Inspiring student-led change since 2010.

Our Mission

Students Rebuild has grown and thrived over the past 14 years thanks to the creativity and hard work of thousands of young people and educators from all over the world. What started as a way to engage and give back after the devastating earthquake in Haiti in 2010 has grown into a global project bringing together nonprofits, NGOs, and empowering young people across the globe. The involvement of all classrooms – teachers and students — across years of challenges means the world to us.

As Students Rebuild grows and evolves, it found a new home in 2024 in Creative Visions. Creative Visions was founded to leverage the power of art, advocacy, and creative action to effect social change while supporting, nurturing, and amplifying the voices of young creative changemakers.

Creative Visions

about

Creative Visions was inspired by the life of Dan Eldon, a 22-year-old Reuters photojournalist who was killed in Somalia in 1993 along with three other journalists. After his death, his mother and sister, Kathy and Amy Eldon, discovered 20 journals bursting with collages, reflecting his adventurous spirit and life as an artist, humanitarian, photojournalist, and creative changemaker.

Engaging and inspiring youth

Creative Visions was founded to leverage the power of art, advocacy, and creative action to effect social change while supporting, nurturing, and amplifying the voices of young creative changemakers like Dan.

Creating global impact

A nonprofit organization and United Nations NGO, Creative Visions’ education programs support youth, educators, and changemakers in understanding how to use media, arts, and technology to take creative action about the things they care about.

Our Approach

Each Students Rebuild Project empowers K-12 students to take action through creativity, generating donations to organizations that make a difference.

  • Sparking curiosity & critical thinking.

Students delve into specific global problems, gaining perspective and knowledge about important issues and generating funding for partner organizations.

  • Building empathy across oceans.

Students engage with pressing global challenges, developing empathy for the individuals and communities impacted by these issues. They then transform that empathy into action by raising funds for partner organizations actively addressing critical concerns like the climate crisis, refugee support, and the fight against hunger and food insecurity.

  • Learning by doing.

Students take direct action and see firsthand how they can make a difference. Abstract issues become tangible, and students benefit from real-world, project-based learning.
