Announcing the Students Rebuild Changemaker Challenge!
Students Rebuild team
We’re excited to invite teachers and students worldwide to support those making a positive difference through the Changemaker Challenge!
We are doing something a little different this year since the time we are living in is, well...a little different. In the past six months, we’ve witnessed educators and students show up for each other and their communities in inspiring and innovative ways—from drive-thru celebrations and live-streamed everything, to organizing free little pantries and marches for justice and change.
That’s why this year, we’re inviting students to help shine a light on changemakers right in their own backyard while supporting others sparking change around the world.
Student participation in the Changemaker Challenge will generate the largest match we’ve ever had—a $5 donation to reach our goal of $1,000,000 to support young changemakers working across the globe, and educators leading change in their local communities across the United States.
Changemaker Challenge Partners!
Your participation will support six organizations that are training and equipping changemakers. Projects from BUILD, Creative Reaction Lab, and Peace First will support youth changemakers from all around the world. Partners DonorsChoose and EdLoc will provide support to educators and classrooms making change. Read more about our incredible partners on the Challenge page Partners tab.
Changing the World Without Leaving Home!
We know many educators are facilitating remote learning this year. With that in mind, we’ve designed new materials to help make participation and learning through the Challenge simple. Our friends at Global Nomads Group helped us create student reflection worksheets that can be shared with peers. Also, as an alternative to collecting and sending us student art, we are providing a gift certificate that students can download and use to give their art to changemakers in their life. We also have student-facing promotional materials and even a youth-produced launch video! Check out all these resources and more on the Resources tab of the new Challenge page.
At Students Rebuild, we know well that sparking change does not require any superpowers. It is not reserved for those of us with exceptional qualities of heroism. We ALL have what it takes to make change.
Whether you have a large platform and tons of influence, or if no one knows your name—you have the ability to impact others right where you are, with what you have. Honoring everyday acts of kindness and service is what the Changemaker Challenge is all about!
We know there is a lot going on this year that is asking for your attention. And we hope that the Changemaker Challenge brings a little light and joy to you, your students, and the world.
