Take the Challenge

Take a collective stand against ongoing humanitarian crises. Get creative, raise awareness and help generate funding through a challenge grant.  Your action will be matched with dollars for relief and improved livelihoods for other young people Somalia and the DRC.

Really, you can help change the world.

FOUR STEPS YOU CAN TAKE:

Step 1: Sign Up

Register by clicking on the link below to sign-up as a team or an individual.

Step 2: Get Creative & Bring Others On Board

Create. Gather your clay, plaster, wood, fabric or other materials. Make a bone for peace. Make a bone for hope and healing. Make a bone to show our connectedness. Pair it with a personal story or message.

Bring friends. Call your friends and invite them to a bone-making event.  Check out our Tips and Tools section for a complete how-to.  Remember the challenge: to generate $500,000 for CARE by spreading the word and making bones.

Step 3: Learn & Connect

Connect. Want to know more than just the facts? Dive deep into crises in Somalia and DRC through live webcasts, field blogs and interactive videoconferences with relief workers, your peers in Somalia and DRC and other challenge participants.

Share with the world. Download your photos onto our Facebook page. Visit often to view others’ photos. See how students all over the globe are meeting this challenge.

Step 4: Donate Bones & Meet This Challenge

Submit your handmade bones. Mail your contributions for placement at the National Mall in 2013.  Students from outside North America have the option to submit photographs of their handmade bones, which will be digitally woven into the final installation and selectively incorporated into a book and short film about the project.

Generate a donation. Your handmade bones will generate funding for CARE’s work to improve livelihoods and advance educational opportunities for young people in Somalia and the DRC.  Read more about how the challenge works and where the funding will go here.
