As you know, Students Rebuild On Tour! has continued our adventures around
the East Coast. Although our Northeast Tour is coming to a close, the impact of
this project is just starting!
During our second visit with the Community Folk Art Center (CFAC), in Syracuse, NY
we reunited with our friends for more bone making. We reconnected with
Marielle, an inspiring young girl who we met during our first stop at CFAC.
Her mother told us that since the last time we saw her,
Marielle hadn’t stopped talking about making bones. Marielle even showed her
mom, sister and friends how to use newspaper and masking tape to create bones
and invited them to become part of this project. Oh, and did we mention that she
is only 5 years old?!
Marielle is showing us that at any age you can help to
change the world around you! Stories like this are what make those long drives
totally worth it! Marielle is one in a million—how about you?
Take the challenge today and
help us cover the National Mall in Washington, D.C. in June, 2013 with one
million bones as a symbol of solidarity with victims and survivors of ongoing
conflict in places like the DRC and Somalia. Every handmade bone
generates $1 from the Bezos Family Foundation for CARE's work in
these regions, up to $500,000!
Stay tuned for the return of On Tour! when we hit the West
Coast in February 2013!
