Connect to Congo

CONNECT TO CONGO

This Spring, we have two different opportunities for you to connect with students in the Democratic Republic of Congo.

1) Live Webcast
2) Interactive Videoconference

 1) Live Webcast on Thursday, April 19 at 10 AM ET

In this 60 minute webcast, students will investigate the impact of conflict on youth in the eastern DRC through learning from a guest panel. Students will learn about the cause of the conflict and have the opportunity to ask questions and make comments throughout the program via the live-chat function.

Panelists:
Timothee Mwambwa Akilimali (Program Director, CARE DRC), Issac (Student, ETN Vocational Center), JD Stier (Campaign Manager, Raise Hope for Congo)

How to Participate: Although the webcast has already aired, you can watch it in its entirety, below. This is a great opportunity for educators to introduce Students Rebuild to their students and to challenge them to take critical action!

2) Interactive Videoconference on Wednesday, April 25 at 10 AM ET

Interactive videoconferences (IVCs) allow us to connect to others face-to-face and interact in real time.  Facilitated by Global Nomads Group, this 60 minute session will connect your students with their Congolese peers, where they can learn more about each other's communities.  This program is offered for Middle and High School classrooms.

Guest Speakers:
Rose Vive Lobo (Project Manager, CARE DRC), ETN Students (ETN Vocational Center- a program supported by CARE DRC), Naomi Natale (Founder, One Million Bones)

How to Participate:  First, REGISTER for the IVC.  Then Download the curriculum here. Next, find out if you have IVC technology at your school.  If you don't have the technology, don't worry- we can set you up!
