St. Bonaventure has completed their Literacy Challenge. Our two teams (Bonaventure Bookmarks, Bonaventure Bookworms) challenged the school to make 500. We are proud to announce that we have exceeded our goal and created 558 bookmarks for Student Rebuild.

Our beautiful bookmarks are displayed in the front foyer of our school for everyone to admire. Our students are proud that they are helping other kids around the world learn how to read and write. We proved that we can make a difference at St. Bonaventure.”

“Here is the Merrimac Cares contribution to the Bookmarks for Literacy Challenge. We hope that the 30 students who created the 37 bookmarks will help in some way.

Community service is the aim of this group which gets together during our Sports afternoons at Merrimac State High School. We will be spreading the word about your organisation at this school so that we might make a greater contribution in future projects. Wishing great success for the  bookmarks. Many thanks for the opportunity. Kind regards,

-Cassandra James, Teacher Merrimac SHS

The Students Rebuild Literacy Challenge, in partnership with Save the Children and Global Nomads Group, helped thousands of children in disadvantaged communities become successful life-long readers and learners. The Bezos Family Foundation, through Students Rebuild, has matched each bookmark you made and mailed in with $1—up to $300,000—for Save the Children’s Literacy Boost program in Mali, Nepal and Peru.
