- Q: What information will I need to fill out the online nomination form?
- A: The online nomination form will include a series of drop down boxes and text boxes for entering narrative responses. To fill out the nomination form, Half the Sky Movement non-governmental organization (NGO) staff will need to be prepared to answer narrative questions that correspond to the award judging criteria. Nominators will also need to know the full name and age of the nominee and have the reference letters, photos and personal statements for the nominees. Nominators may work directly with nominees to gather the photo and first person essay information.
- Q: How much time do I have to nominate someone?
- A: The Students Rebuild Award (SRA) online nomination form will go live on November 28, 2012 and will close at midnight Pacific Standard Time on February 18, 2013.
- Q: When will the award winners be announced?
- A: Students Rebuild and Half the Sky Movement will announce the winners of the 2013 SRA winners the week of March 18, 2013. We have chosen this time because it will coincide with the United States rebroadcast of Half the Sky: Turning Oppression into Opportunity for Women Worldwide in February and March 2012 and in tandem with the international release of the film in spring 2013. Also, the announcement will occur in the same month as International Women's Day.
- Q: Will there be an awards event?
- A: The SRA awards ceremony will occur as an online video and will include celebrity judge participation. Visit our site again for more information on the awards video!
- Q: Why are the 2013 Students Rebuild Awards open to females only?
- A: We recognize that both males and females are instrumental to achieving gender equality and eradicating oppression. Students Rebuild and Half the Sky Movement are committed to honoring women for the 2013 SRAs because women’s contributions are so often underrepresented. Award criteria are based on the focus of the featured partner, and partner organizations will be determined annually.
- Q: Who will judge the awards/be on the selection panel?
- A: The SRAs judging panel will include people who understand the type of work the nominees are doing. As well, we will include individuals associated with international organizations and celebrities involved in humanitarian issues. The general public can also participate in the judging March 2 - 8!
- Q: Why didn't the person I voted for win (from the general public vote)?
- A: Votes from the public are added to the votes from the judging panel. The crowd source vote is a critical part of the judging process but is just one factor in selecting the final winners.
- Q: Who do I contact with questions?
- A: Please email questions to sabrina@studentsrebuild.org.
